From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows NT 5.0) BuildID: 2000101014 Install the Java plugin 1.3_01 beta - when you use Netscape's plugin finder, this is the one that is installed (BTW, this install process is very buggy, but I'm not sure if that's a browser problem so I'm not submitting that as a bug). Also, the release notes no longer say 1.3 isn't supported. Once the plugin is installed, go to a page with an applet. Once the page is loaded and the applets are running, try to exit the page by entering another URL. The browser will freeze at this point. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install the Java plugin v. 1.3_01 beta. Using the Netscape plugin finder will install this version (on 10/14/00 at least). 2. Go to a page with an applet (java.sun.com) 3. After the page is loaded and the applets are running, try going to another page by clicking on a link or entering a URL in the address bar. 4. The browser will freeze. Actual Results: The browser freezes and can only be shut down by killing the process. Expected Results: The browser should continue on to the next page.
is this oji or a plugin issue?

this is OJI
I am using build 2000102604. I have the Java plug-in 1.3 installed. However, applets are not working. For every applet, I get a gray box that says "Java not enabled...". According to my preferences, Java is enabled. If I try to click on a link to leave a page with a Java applet on it, Mozilla hangs and must be killed.

kyles, you need jdk1.3.0_01. 1.3 will not work.
Using mozilla checked out with Netscape_20000922_BRANCH CVS tag, I don't see this problem on win32. Raju, can you please verify that this bug doesn't happen on Win2000? Thanks, Ed

I am still seeing this bug. I go to the Debug -> Verification -> Applets and once the clock is loaded, I click on a link on the left and the browser stops responding. OS: Win2k Moz Build: 2000120504 User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; m18) Gecko/20001205
I am still seeing this bug. I go to Debug -> Verification -> Applets. I let the clock load completely, then I try clicking on a link on the left side. The browser immediately stops responding. OS: Win2k+Sp1 JRE: 1.3.0_01 Go to http://www.sun.com and click another link and the browser does not hang. Shawn: Would you mind download Netscape 6 to have a try? Make sure you use jdk1.3.0_01 by clicking the java Duke in control panel.
