Details

STR. - Be a regular user of Firefox 3.6 - Switch to 4.0 - Notice the bookmarks toolbar is gone (typical procedure involves ranting somehow at this point, possibly on slashdot or other similar website, and debating endlessly about the new interface ;-)). - Right-click in the toolbar, re-enable the bookmarks toolbar - Notice the weird bookmarks widget that just appeared in the bookmarks toolbar. At this point, you probably want to remove the bookmarks widget, since you already have the bookmarks toolbar. There's no point in having both. - Right now, the bookmarks widget is in the bookmarks toolbar. - Right-click, customize. The toolbar palette shows up. - The bookmarks widget JUMPS into the main toolbar. - Most users probably won't notice that in order to remove a toolbar item (the bookmarks widget) that's in the bookmarks toolbar, you must remove the one that's in the main toolbar. - Counter-intuitive. - Typical conclusion: the bookmarks widget disappeared when I tried to remove it, the Firefox team left me no choice. I'm on Linux, with a 1204x600 screen, I don't know if that's related. I ran a few queries containing "bookmarks widget" to see if someone had reported this, but I couldn't find one.
Reassigning to toolbars, put the wrong component initially.
