I went to www.ibm.com with both mozilla M5 and Netscape Communicator 4.51 and there is a large difference in the presentation of the mage. M5 does not have the background colours correct. The IBm site is made with tables so I assume there is something wrond with the background colours of table cells. keep up the good work

The primary reasons for the differences in appearance are: 1) IBM server-side is not recognizing UA of 'Mozilla/5.0' and serving different content to 4.5 versus 5.0 2) Raptor table handling is more accurate than 4.5 3) Raptor support of CSS is better. So, this is largely a duplicate of bug #3688 (which tracks 'Mozilla/5.0' issues) or bug #2693 (the original report where some of the reasons were documented -- I have other notes in email to claudius). However: there are also a few additional known bugs exhibited in the page (e.g., <IMG HEIGHT=1> inside TD is 'over-height', <input type=image> in table is vertically aligned too low, as well some transient image loading problems (amplified by the 'new' way of using ALT attributes on images). So, to mark duplicate? or to leave open as 'that IBM page' bug.

Eric: This page uses HTTP_AGENT to serve us a different page. Could you evangelise please? Once they have fixed the problem (i.e., once they serve us a decent page, with stylesheets and the works), assign the bug to me and I'll see if there are any remaining problems. Thanks.

IBM is still serving an HTML 3.2 page to Mozilla 5, despite undisputably recognizing Mozilla/5.0 as the UA (View Source to see). If the page sent to Nav 4.7 is viewed in Mozilla, it looks correct (except for the missing images). Time to re-evangelize, pre beta? Tested with 1999-11-12-18-M11 and 1999-11-13-09-M12 nightly binaries on Windows NT.

Page looks fine in M12. I have no time to lobby individual sites for Nav5-specific enhancements; I'm only notifying developers of situations where their page is breaking. INVALID.
