Select "mailto:" bookmark launches a navigator window and mail composer window. The former is not neccesarry. (1) Bookmark "mailto:" link with context menu. (2) Close all navigator windows. (3) Select "mailto:" bookmark. A navigator window and mail compose window appear.

My explanation is insufficient. (3) Select "mailto:" bookmark in the mailer's sidebar.

I'm guessing a bookmark automatically loads a new window with the mailto: url which then opens a compose window. This should be modified to open directly a new compose window. Maybe copy the browser code that parses the mailto: url?

A related, perhaps the same, issue is that in Mozilla 1.7.1 (on Windows 2000 sp4), right-clicking on a file and selecting SendTo Mail Recipient, First openes the Mozilla browser window and then opens the Compose window. As well phrased in the second message in this thread, "the former is not necessary." I do NOT recall this happening before, although I may not have noticed because I often have the browser window open anyway. Fortunately, with the browser already open, SendTo Mail Recipient does NOT open a second browser window. I am NOT a programmer, and I HAVE done some registry hacking, so the recurrence on my computer of this rather ancient bug should not be taken as dispositive IF the bug has been fixed.
