This page, which loads correctly in both Netscape 4.7x and Microsoft Internet Explorer, loads incorrectly in Mozilla 2000120621. This problem ocurrs in both the Linux and Win32 versions of Mozilla. A screenshot of the bug (under Windows) can be found at http://hushpad.zorin.org/tmp/twunetmozilla.jpg.
sending to parser, due to my testcase. basically, <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd"> causes this error, when removed, this works.

I'm the coder of the pages-- foxDO_NOT_SPAM_ME@DO_NOT_SPAM_MEtwu.net. The problem occurs in Netscape 6 as well, on all platforms. Apparently, this is an issue with the W3C standards. Here's why I feel this way: I am theorizing that old browsers pretty much ignore the W3C-mandated line at the top of the HTML that tells the user agent (browser) what version of HTML you're supposed to be using. Netscape 6 and Mozilla might NOT be doing so-- by reading the line on www.twu.net, they may say "Okay, this is supposed to be HTML 4.01, so I will parse it based on that requirement, fairly strictly." Older Netscapes, and current IEs, may not parse things so strictly... Basically, my theory is this-- there's SOMETHING in the HTML 4.01 spec as pertains to tables that only Netscape 6 and recent Mozillas are strict about, and then only when the "this is supposed to be HTML 4.01" DTD line is present at the top...
Parser does not act differently for different DOCTYPES anymore ( since Strict DTD got pulled out ). This is layout issue. Giving bug to buster.

http://www.twu.net looks the same on IE and 6.2, but the page has changed since what was shown in the screenshot. Marking WorksForMe.

Reopening since URL looks same on IE, and 6.2 but the page has changed, But when we look at test cases attached: with doctype and without docytype, renders differently in 6.2 but where as in IE it looks same, as per harish's Comment #5 Parser does not act differently for different DOCTYPES.
