Are you filing this against Messenger 5.0 or Messenger 4.x? Are you seeing this bug in Mac only? If not, pls change the platform to All. Thanks.
This appears to be only on the Mac, and appears in Communicator 4.5, 4.5.1, and 4.6
It appears to be the style sheet at the top of the message which causes the problem. The problem occurs whenever there are <ul>, <ol>, <li>, or <blockquote> directives in the messag
If this is a 4.x problem, this should be assigned to the ongoing maintenance team. - rhp

presnick: This bug database (bugzilla) is for mozilla efforts (post 4.x product line). I'm going to copy the contents of this bug to our internal bug tracking system for the sustaining engineering team who are working on 4.x product line. I'll keep you posted as to what they say. For the 5.x product line, pmock is our QA engineer. We'll add your test case to ours to make sure we test this specific case for 5.x. Thanks. rhp - I'll assign the bug back to me until after I get this content into the 4.x bug database.

I've entered this as bug 352362 into our internal bug system for tracking 4.x bugs. I'm going to close this bugzilla bug as "invalid" then for the mozilla code base. presnick - I'll put your email into the other bug and the engineers will contact you if they have any questions. Thanks.

This bug apparently now appears in Windows 5.0, Mac 5.0, and Linux (not sure of the version).

are you saying this bug occurs in Mozilla on Win32, Mac, and Linux?
Yes, it is my understanding that it occurs on all 3 platforms of Mozilla. This has been reported to us by multiple users with screen shots (which I can provide) to back it up. I have not gotten complete reports of specific version numbers. Has anyone there attempted to replicate the problem using the instructions in the original bug report? Many of our users are experiencing it.
ok, will try.
I am able to reproduce the problem under 4.72 win32, 4.72 macos, and 4.7 linux communicator. I tried the sample mail message in today win32, macos, and linux commercial seamonkey builds 2000-02-17-08 but could not reproduce this problem. I tried this problem under IMAP and local mail folder. It displays ok for me. I will attach the mail message I'm using.
Presnick, Do you see the problem in todays build? So far, I can't get it to fail in 5.0. /Peter
I don't see any problems with this. The salutation/close is normal, directions in blue, and info in red. Varying font sizes. Bug long ago fixed (or never even there)? Tested on Mozilla M15 (2000031908) Mac OS 9. Probably safe to resolve fixed.
ok, I'll do so.

After talking it over with the reporter, Pete Resnick, I want to be sure this bug has been resolved. I may need to re-open this bug or make it a depend on another bug, 38076. I'm investigating further ... before changing bug status.
