Until recently, the Linux nightlies recognised the RealPlayer 8 plugin (rpnp.so) on browser start. They do so no longer. I cannot recall when they stopped.
John, can you pls be more specific here ? Do you mean that realplayer does not start up when you click on a link with real content ? Does "about:plugins" list the player for you ?
Neither does the browser print its usual "plugin" message to stdout when starting, nor does the plugin appear in "about:plugins". Other plugins (including Flash) appear at startup and in the "about" list just fine. Hope that helps.
Make sure you have a gcc 2.95 build (they are marked as such in their file names). I can't use the rp plugin unless I'm running a build compiled with gcc 2.95 (this is a known compiler issue).
Spot on: the gcc-295 build does, indeed, recognise the RealPlayer plugin on this machine.
