Scott, probably a dup of some bug you're previously reassigned to someone (not
sure who). Anyway, not a mail database bug.

cc 'ing sspitzer. May be it has to do with performance work on deletes.

jaime, how are you deleting all the messages from the trash folder?
(select all, delete?)

By selecting all messages, then clicking on the Delete button, right-click then
delete, or the delete button on the keyboard.

Change qa contact, cc esther
I am pretty sure this is a dup of bug 65630.

I'm not convinced it is a duplicate, since this is the trash folder and in the
other bug, the messages re-appear in the inbox (which makes me think it could be
a popstate.dat problem).

with Mozilla 0.8 I'm able to delete messages from Inbox and then by compacting
it they desappear definitely. Instead, FILED messages are not removed from
Inbox, they reappear the next time you relaunch

Sorry, this may not be the compact problem I was thinking about.

I'm having the same problem. The only way I've found to fix it is to select all
of the messages I want to keep, move them to a temporary mail folder, quite
Mozilla and delete my inbox folder, then rename the temporary folder to the
inbox folder and start Mozilla again.
I've also noticed that my inbox.msf file is always zero bytes.

Navin,
I still see this problem today on commercial build:2001030509 on win98. I am
reopening this bug. Since this bug depends on 65630.
changing severity to major since this a loss of delete function and adding
nsbeta1 for keywords to make sure this bug gets fixed.
