Details

Version: Apprunner. Build: 1999052108 Platforms: All Expected Results: To have modal dialogs for Spell check, Insert Link, Insert Image, and Print Setup. What I got: I can open multiple copies of the Spell check, Insert Link, Insert Image, and Print Setup dialogs. Steps to Reproduce: 1) Launch Apprunner. 2) Select Editor from the Tasks menu. 3) In the new editor window, click on the Insert Image toolbar icon. 4) After the dialog appears, click back the editor document to bring it to the front. 5) Again, click on the Insert Image toolbar icon. 6) A second copy of the Insert Image dialog appears. 7) Note: Steps 3-5 can be done with Insert Link icon, Spell Check menu item, and Print Preview (Print Setup) menu item.

Until we can make the dialogs behave like modal dialogs, let's not have any more bugs on this area. We are waiting for Modal dialog fixes coming from XPToolkit. -- Thanks, Greg

Related behavior that should also NOT be reported as bugs because of the lack of modal dialogs: Dialog does not stay on top (Z order problem) You shouldn't be able to interact with ANY editor UI or type in editor when a dialog is up.
Target Milestone: M10
This bug depends on getting true modal dialogs. Sujay: Bug 6693 looks like the best candidate for the general lack of modal dialogs problem. I asked if that was appropriate in the comments for bug 6693, so we should wait a bit before using that number.
