build id: 1999052517 platform: windows nt to reproduce: load example 8 from the debug | viewer demos menu. scroll down so that the drop down menu is partially obscured by the browser chrome (eg you can't really see much of it save for the top several rows of pixels - it should be over the 'Document: Done' in the chrome). next, click the down arrow button to drop down the menu. result: the two options are shown in a rectangle that appears 'in the middle of' the window chrome - cool! but not the way it's supposed to be. expected result is, i think, that the two options remain visually connected with the field in the browser window. (communicator 4.6 gets this one wrong too.)

Is through the chrome or over the chrome? Would you submit a screen shot, my windows build is still building.
Summary: drop down menu can display through chrome → drop down menu can display over chrome
Over the chrome. I'm not able to do a screen shot at present, but if you have 4.6 installed on your system, you should be able to do the same thing in 4.6.

We're moving to GFX rendered widgets real soon now, so I'd say this bug will never get fixed. GFX widgets will do proper clipping. By the way, IE5 gets this wrong too.
Status: RESOLVED → VERIFIED
Based on beard's comments, I will mark as verified won't fix.
