I use a proxy here at work. When trying to test a locally developed web site (i.e. siting on my PC). When I was using http://localhost/... it would always try to go through the work proxy. If i changed it to http://<computername>/... it would work, as I already had <computername> in the no Proxy for list.
Isn't this the expected behaviour, if localhost isn't in the execptions list? You should be able to add localhost to the No Proxy for list. Does that not work?
RESOLVED - wontfix. Baseed on bug 31510, I agree with Bradley, this is the expected behavior. If there is a reason why localhost deserves special treatment, please comment there.
