Build ID: 2001-04-13-04 This isn't happenening on my Mac OS 9.1 or Mandrake 7.2 boxes. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Spawn the Account Wizard, create an NNTP account. 2. In the server window, enter "secnews/netscape.communicator" as your NNTP server. 3. Click Finish. 4. You will crash (filed as bug 75973) 5. Re-start mozilla, open Mail/News. Expected Results: Inbox should open. Actual Results: We crash in msgnews.dll upon launch of Mail/News. Workaround: Delete your user50 directory (or just the one profile, if you have several)

Sorry, I didn't know what function msgnews.dll performed.
Summary: Crash on startup (msgnews.dll) after opening inbox from crashing with news/foo.com in the account wizard. → Crash on startup in nsMsgNewsFolder::GetNntpServer after opening inbox from crashing with news/foo.com in the account wizard.
We'll see if this still crashes when bug 75973 is fixed (since the testcase depends on that). For now, it's dependant of that bug.
Depends on: 75973
I'm going to mark nsbeta1- because of the dependency. If it turns out that fixing the other crash doesn't make it so that this crash disappears (by the fact that it won't happen) then we should reconsider.

Just want to add my suspection that this is the same bug as bug 75973, the stack-traces are very similar.
On startup of mailnews we read prefs.js for account info, to load all the accounts. And since mailnews on startup reads this - obviously invalid account, it crashes. It's a duplicate of its parent bug. (We need better bullet-proofing for invalid accounts) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 75973 ***
