Build 2001-05-04-04: WinME Build 2001-05-04-08: Mac 9.04 Haven't tried linux yet. Overview: I found this problem while checkling the Mail/News Account Settings. The Server Panel does not display any server settings, nothing is checked off. Then I checked the Address Book settings in Preferences and settings are not saved there either. This makes it difficult to test Mail.
Marking blocker because I can't test Mail.
Severity: critical → blocker

So far I can only find Mail preferences/account settings that are experiencing this problem, I'm changing the product to MailNews.
Component: Browser-General → Account Manager
Product: Browser → MailNews
Assigning to sspitzer, qa assign to nbaca for now. The same problem appears in a older or new profile using a POP/IMAP, Modern/Classic.

All prefs work fine for me. Nbaca, I don't understand - nothing is checked off? Everything works fine here.
I will check todays build again. Sorry the confusion but I was seeing the following to be more precise: 1. Account Settings - Select Edit|Mail/News Account Settings - Select a Server panel for one of the accounts Actual Results: No text entries appear for Server Type, Server Name, User Name. I try to check "Leave Messages on Server", select OK, reopen Account Settings and the checkmark is not saved. 2. Preferences - Select Edit|Preferences - Go to the Mail and Newsgroups section - Under the Mail and Newsgroups section, go to the Address Book section - Select one of the checkboxes (any of them), OK - Go back to the Address Book section Actual Results: The checkmark is not saved.
Furthermore, the "Advanced" button is missing from the Server Settings of account settings (bug 78979), adding bug 78979 for this bug dependance...

Changing summary from "Many preference settings are not selected/not saved" to "Account Settings: Server Settings are Blank". Changing the summary so more people will find this bug instead of creating more duplicates.
Summary: Many preference settings are not selected/not saved → Account Settings: Server Settings are blank
marking nsbeta1+, changing priority to P1 and changing target milestone to 0.9.1. Cc'ing a whole bunch of people. As nbaca mentions, the server setting dialogs and Collected AB prefs are messed up. In the collected AB I can't see any of my prefs set. srilatha, this looks like this may have happened after you added your ldap changes. Not sure if they are related, but they might be since affected panels all have ldap in them. Could you see if your changes might have affected this?

perhaps it is a packaging issue? I'm not seeing this problem in my debug build
I didn't notice in the debug build either (need to check ns debug build now to isolate the issue further). But I did see a js error on the console when ran today's commercial build with -console option. Error is in pref-directory.js file. ldapUrl in the question seem to be null. JavaScript error: chrome://messenger/content/addressbook/pref-directory.js line 150: ldapUrl has no properties
I didn't notice this in my opt winnt build from mozilla, either. could be a commercial build packaging problem? Ninoschka, can you try a mozilla build? over to racham to investigate.

Me neither. As Seth said it could be a packaging issue. There is a bug filed against it. bug #79247 Also the mozilla tarball builds seemed to be fine
I don't see this in ns debug build either. As mentioned earlier, when the server panel is to be displayed the app is failing to get ldap service and bailing out on other js calls. Srilatha, you may want make bug 79247 as dup of this one. Reassigning to you. Adding Sean Su to the cc list for general packaging help if needed. bhuvan

Mozilla build, ok. Netscape build, exhibits the problem.
yeah, sounds like a packager-* problem.
