Summary: crash in hang | GetModuleHandleExW → [Win8] Flash hang in F_1152915508 while playing Knight Hunters
Whiteboard: [Win8] → [Win8][Flash-11.5]
https://crash-analysis.mozilla.com/chofmann/20121001/top-winNT-crashes-summary.txt shows the signature in the top 10 crashes on Windows 8.
It's the Windows 8 version of bug 779657/bug 788423 which are top crashers.
I also got this crash on Firefox 16 beta 6 with Flash 11,5,500,85. https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-d8c8cbcd-71e1-4ceb-af7f-6a3282121004 https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-fa2a9505-327f-437a-8d0e-29c352121004 In the moment of the crash I had 2 YouTube videos running and 3 Facebook games.
Can you please provide the specific URLs for the tabs you had open? I'm especially interested in the games, but the video encoding varies between youtube videos as well.
Blocks: 789379
The crash is reproducible also with Flash 11.4.402.287 and Firefox 17 beta 2 (playing several YouTube videos did the trick this time). https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-317a4c3c-a45b-46e9-bbf2-0d4b22121018
Any improvement with 11.5.500.104?
If you can still reproduce this, please use a nightly or aurora build to report the hang; there are new hang reporting features in these builds which will make it a much easier to diagnose.
Simona, can you please retest this with Firefox 17.0b5 and Flash 11.5?
QA Contact: simona.marcu
There's not much point in testing with 17.0b5. Use Nightly or Aurora.
I tested on the latest Nightly with the latest Flash version. This is the hang report that I got: https://crash-analysis.mozilla.com/hang-reports/2012/11-07/hr-20121107-6883cc5c-2290-4d83-82a5-1b3a2cfcf094.html In the moment of the hang I had 19 YouTube videos playing and one Facebook game opened (Zuma Blitz).
CpuUsageFlashProcess2 15.3 PluginCpuUsage 50 Looks like plugin-container is churning and the sandbox is working but not as much. I'm not sure there's much else to say here, though.
I also got this crash on Firefox 19 beta 1 with Flash 11.5.502.146. https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-bd639c23-76b0-4a2d-914f-341572130109
Simona, how easy is the crash to reproduce for you? Benjamin, is there any information Simona can provide which would assist Engineering?
Is it also happening with 11.6.602.137 beta? Seems 11.5.502.146 and 11.6.602.137 were released on the same day.
(In reply to Arthur K. from comment #15) > Is it also happening with 11.6.602.137 beta? Seems 11.5.502.146 and > 11.6.602.137 were released on the same day. Flash 11.6.602.137 is also crashing on the latest Nightly. https://crash-analysis.mozilla.com/hang-reports/2013/01-11/hr-20130111-f2f8b218-1797-43ae-9efd-4309f62a556e.html
(In reply to Anthony Hughes, Mozilla QA (:ashughes) from comment #14) > Simona, how easy is the crash to reproduce for you? The crash isn't easy to reproduce and it's intermittent. Sometimes all I have to do is to load one video (YouTube for example) and other times I have to load more than 12 videos to get the crash, but I can constantly crash Firefox by overloading it with flash content.
At this point, there is nothing in this report that convinced me there is actually a problem... Flash is just super duper slow under some cases, and we kill it.

11.6.602.146 was release yesterday and a couple tests I did seem to show that it improves Flash for me (testing on speedtest.net).
