[outliner scrollbar] if inbox has less than one page of messages, it will come up with a box where the scroll bar is. this doesn't happen if I switch folders. it has to be my default inbox, the one that gets loaded when I start mail. here comes a screen shot

when the inbox comes up, there is a scroll bar. but the bar and the thumb disappear, leaving that box. bryner, this is probably related to that other bug I logged on saturday about the scroll bars going away in 3 passes.
seth, you're probably right. -> 1.0.

I see this quite often, when using mailnews.

I believe this also happens for the folder outliner. You can see that the selection of the initially selected folder doesn't extend all the way to the right edge when you first load Mail & News. After one resize, the selection goes all the way to the right edge, just like the focus of the thread outliner will be drawn correctly. So it appears the bug is in outliner in general rather than in the thread outliner specifically.

I am no longer seeing this behavior on the scrollbar in the inbox (or mail folders in general) but I'm still seeing the same behavior in other outliners, for example the folder tree in the Mail & News sidebar. Bug 97354 was closed as a duplicate of this bug. I don't know what fixed the problem that this bug (80834) deals with but I'd like to remind that the problem that the duplicate bug 97354 deals with is still pertinent.
