For the initial pass at about home customization, I'm just showing a context menu when you long tap on items. Since we're showing it, we may as well also add items like "Open in New Tab", "Share", potentially "Add to homescreen"?

I assume you meant the context menus for the thumbnails on about:home that got introduced when they were made customizable, correct? Well, these context menus do have a 'Open in New Tab' option by now, but are still missing 'Share' or 'Add to Home Screen' compared to, e.g. bookmark context menus. Updating summary to make that clear.

I'd imagine we'd want this for *all* items in the list (below the thumbnails) including thumbnails in the top-sites panel of about:home

Given bug 933428 and bug 931021, this is a WONTFIX.
