The unread counter is in some news groups for some threads negative. The news group is set to: View -> Messages -> Threads with Unread Selecting "Mark news group read" doesn't change the counter to zero.
Looks like a news issue. To Stephen.

Have you experienced this on a public news server? If so, please give us the URL of that server and also an NNTP log. http://www.mozilla.org/quality/mailnews/mail-troubleshoot.html#imap gives instructions for the platforms. Make sure to replace IMAP with NNTP in the settings, thanks.
This bug was reported before, on a private server, and the reporter ended up saying that he confirmed it was a problem with his NNTP server, but we'll see what this turns out to be.
Well, I haven't seen this on news.mozilla.org, news.mcom.com, or poisonivy.mcom.com, so unless someone has a public server or NNTP log, marking this worksforme.

This is still working for me, using the servers and conditions described above. If this is indeed a legitimate problem (possibly also a server error) then I'll need to see the steps to reproduce.

I installed Mozilla M0.9.1 and all counters are positve.
