create a new folder with a chinese name, select the folder, get an
alert: "Unknown 80520012"
I bet the problem is somewhere along the line we are failing early (see bugs
#41944 or #88851) and we are not creating the empty file on disk when the
folder is created.
so when we go to selected it, we get an error.
assigning to cavin as he's working on the related bugs.

and, since the file is not created on disk, when you start up the next time,
the new folder you created will not be there.
but, if I copy a message into the folder in the same session that it was
created, the file does get created, so it will show up the next time.
but the name will not be the chinese name. but that is bug #41944
Summary: create a new folder with a chinese name, select the folder, get an alert: "Unknown 80520012" → create a new folder with a chinese name, select the folder, get an alert: "Unknown 80520012" (and the file is not created on disk!)

Is the name in Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese?
Are you using US Windows? Localized Chinese system (Simplified or Traditional)
is needed in order to create Chinese local folder names correctly (see bug
85836, 39757).

Platform: PowerBook G3/300/192Mb/25Gb, MacOS X 10.0.4
Fizzilla Build: 0.9.3 (2001080316)
This bug is xp, and more serious than it appears. I got Chinese spam, and now
every time I click my In Box, I get this error--effectively locking me out of my
inbox.
I'm intelligent enough to manually remove the spam message, but newbies wouldn't
have a clue.

Hmm, this is even more strange than I thought...
As a test, I removed all Mozilla-related files, launched Moz, and recreated my
email account. Simply clicking on any folder in my email account displays this
error message. I think there is a serious problem with email.
- Adam
Seth and Adam, do you still see this problem with the latest build?
I don't see this problem on my Simplified Chinese Windows XP with 02/12 build.

I haven't seen this in awhile. A lot of the old spams I had were checked into
other bugs, and have been resolved.
- Adam
Thanks for the info.
Resolved this as wfm based on Adam's comments.
Please feel free to reopen if you see this problem again.
