Just reset and the bug is still reproducible. I downloaded 23.0b3 and it still persists.
I'm on Mac OS X.

Still occurs with a brand new profile on a brand new computer that has never had Firefox installed before.

Dan, this is the intended behaviour.
Once the Find Bar is opened, it will remain open for the current session, unless you close it.
This can be set as an enhancement request.
Severity: normal → enhancement
Component: Untriaged → Toolbars and Customization
Summary: If search bar is opened, it should disappear after navigating to a new page → Close the Find Bar after navigating to a new page (enhancement)

Jayakumar: I'm a bit annoyed that you requested me to reset my Firefox and my profile when this was intended behavior from the beginning. Leads me think you didn't even read the issue. Big deterrent to me wanting to report anything in the future. :-/
Dan, we certainly want people to report bugs and thank you for doing so. We also want people to help with incoming bug triage, which takes a while to learn how to do effectively.
It looks like this is being discussed over in bug 628179. You might want to go to that bug, and cast a vote for it. Or describe how you think it should behave, after reading the existing comments.
Personally, I also do not like the find bar to stay open when I switch tabs!

Dan, When you reset the profile, the backup of the profile data will be saved in desktop in the folder name of "old profile data"
Transfer the data's to current profile

Jayakumar, I appreciate your response, but you didn't address my issue. The problem is that it's clear that you didn't even verify the bug report on your end, despite saying you did. If you're triaging issues and want to be respectful of reporters' time, you can't do this. At the very least, *actually* attempt to replicate the issue before making false assertions. Thanks.
