Win32 (1999-06-28-08 m8) and Mac(1999-06-28-09 m8)
stes:
1. Select a mail message from the Inbox
2. Press the Delete button from the keyboard, nothing happens
Expected result: Message should be deleted like Nova on Mac and Win32.
This problem occurs on all three platforms.
Since the Delete button does not work on Linux for Nova, I am not sure I should
mark this a All platform bug.
OS: Windows NT → All
Hardware: PC → All
Summary: The keyboard Delete button does not delete a mail like NOVA → The keyboard Delete key does not delete a mail like NOVA
My apology. I meant the Delete key from the keyboard, not button.

reassigning to me.
For 5.0, the Delete key should also work on Linux for deleting a message. We
should not have any parities among platforms.
Note: I believe that one case where the Delete key should not work is when the
user cancels a news posting. I don't know the reasoning behind this; this is
the behavior in 4.x Win32.

I've added a keybinding for the delete key such that it will delete the selected
message if you click it. If you have multiple messages selected and you hit the
delete button it will delete all of the selected messages. Just like in Nova.
Marking as fixed.
Note: I haven't changed the hotkey text that shows up in the Edit menu which
says ctrl-D deletes messages. That's covered in Bug #23408

Here is what I find in today's builds.
Linux (2000-01-18-11-M13)
Win_nt (2000-01-18-11-M13)
Mac (2000-01-17-08-M13)
Linux: POP and IMAP both works. Select a message and press a Delete key, it
deletes the selected message
WIn_nt 4.0 IMAP and POP: Delete key does not delete a selected message. Instead,
it proceed to the next message.
Mac: POP works, Delete key deletes the selected message
Unable to test IMAP due to bug 24272

Indeed. I do not what happened. I did another new profile migration in POP and
IMAP, it works fine now. Leave this open until MAC IMAP problem is fixed.

Win_nt 4.0 (2000-02-28-09 M15)
I tried it again on Win_nt 4.0, it works on Win_nt 4.0.
Mark it a Linux and Mac only bug.

It does not work on Windows for me.
Fenella, perhaps we should close this one and just reopen a new bug.

fenella: I was looking at bug #26782 -- if you are using an iMac (with that
limited keyboard it comes with) what is labelled as "Delete" is not really
a delete key (it is emitting a backspace). On a fullsize keyboard there is
another "delete" key that you can use to test. [Whether this is a platform
binding issue that developers want to take into account is a separate matter].

Hmm ... maybe I should have read the history of the bug more closely :-]
(However, i thought that deleteing buddies was broken on the mac until
i realized that that key was mislabelled).
