Platform: PowerBook G3/300/192Mb/25Gb, MacOS X 10.0.4
Fizzilla Build: 2001070318
1) Pull up mail & news.
2) Click "New Msg" button.
3) click in the To address line.
4) Begin typing an address of a person who's in your address book. Note that
autocomplete pulls up a list of potential matches, with the truncated address @
your domain listed as the first match, other addresses after.
(What should happen: 1st match should be alphabetical order in your address
book, the LAST thing listed should be this truncated address @your domain address.)
5) Hit tab.
What should happen: cursor should move to Subject line; address on To line
should match 1st listed match address in your address book, or truncated address
& your domain if no match available.
What happens: 1st address in list (truncated address @ your domain) gets into To
line, cursor remains on To line.
Requested behavior may be desired on all platforms; I'm not sure about that.

Please change the subject to:
Tab during new message address autocomplete should select *the
highlighted/selected address* & move to Subject Line
BTW. This needs some descriptive keywords: regression, 4xp, UI, mozilla0.9.3

Uh, ok. Just trying to keep it as short & descriptive as possible.

Summary: Tab during new message address autocomplete should select 1st match & move to Subject → Tab during new message address autocomplete should select highlighted/selected address & move to Subject

NO, this is not a dupe. This bug is specifically about TAB behaviour while
addressing a mail (mail component!); the other bug is about TAB behaviour in the
browser autocomplete (browser component!).
Please reopen this bug!

Bug 86643 is discussing the email "To" line. They just make mention of the
browser window for example purposes. I think this resolve is ok, but I want to
see what they have to say about my comments there first.

How can this possibly be a dupe. Look at the *PRODUCT* of this bug, it is
*MailNews*. The *PRODUCT* of the other bug is *Browser*!
The TAB *desired behaviour* in the MailNews component is likely to be completely
different than in the Browser component. Merging the two into the browser bug
will more than likely resolve the problem to the detriment of MailNews
functionality.
Maybe I just don't get it; but maybe you are wrong here. Please reconsider.

I would have to back Peter Lairo on this: please don't make this a dupe of the
browser bug. Also, this is an OSX bug, it works for me on win32 nightly builds,
and that was bug 86017.
Okay, furthermore, a good part of this bug is about A)the order autocomplete
returns are sorted in and B) what happens when you tab from the to: line.
This is totally different from bug 86643.

I believe they mentioned that they filed bug 86643 in the wrong component. I'll
check.
