Netscape 6.1 Problem Primary Browser: ie55 Operating System: Mac8.6 Language: English Issue Summary: There is no longer any way to save a page as text. Component: Navigator Doing What: Browsing web pages Severity: Other I MUST be able to save pages in my format choice. Can Reproduce: Always Try this URL: http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc-3.0/gcc_1.html#SEC1 Issue Detail: I chose the above page as an example because the problem is even worse than I thought. Do Save As in IE5.x and you get a choice on how to save it. Choose to save it as text. Not only does it save it (although unwrapped) it even gets the filename correct. Do the same thing with NS6.1. You don't get a choice of how to save it. It not only doesn't bive you that choice it doesn't use the page title for the file and worse, it's a TEXT file with a weird file creator and garbage contents.
yow --i see this using 2001.09.04.08-comm bits on linux. sorry for the delay in my response...but i'm not sure who should own this. trudelle, is xp apps the right place? don't know what would be causing this... even when i 'more gcc_1.html' in an xterm, all i see is garbage characters. it's odd, too, since viewing the source of the URL [ie, *not* the downloaded file] is fine. could this be a layout/parser issue? [/me inserts wild guess]
