We would like to create a What's New page that offers a link to a survey gizmo survey and is offered al all en-us Firefox Nightly users after the merge to Firefox 29. This would be based on http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/25.0.1/whatsnew/, but with a few changes:
No Orange Background
Remove the Video / Android images and references
Have copy along the lines of:
"Hello! You may have noticed that Firefox has been looking a bit different lately, and some things have gotten changed and moved around. This is all part of our effort to clean up Firefox and make it easier to use and prettier on the eyes. But we can still use your help. We'd like to invite you to take this survey(INSERT LINK HERE) to help us understand how you use Firefox, and help us shape Firefox to better serve you. Thank you! "
After rel-eng states that Nightly is ready for What's New pages we'd like to launch this and leave it up for at least 1-2 weeks, this schedule may be flexible based on holidays. We'd like to get this up as soon as possible due to some of the questions, which reference a user's first impressions of Australis.
For reference, rel-eng page is Bug 940660

Hi Tyler-
Just wanted to check in on how the progress on the Rel-Eng bug is coming along. Do you think they will still be ready for us to get a page live this week?
Thx,
Jen

If the review process on bug 748698 goes OK then early next week is likely for deployment to the update server.

Hi Gavin, Nick, and Tyler-
We are doing our last push of the year this Thursday, December 19.
Do you think the back end work will be done in time to for us to publish the page on Thursday? (Which probably means, the back end work done by EOD Tuesday, December 17 to allow us the minimum time for coding and testing?)
Thanks,
Jen

everything from the User Advocacy side is done, all that needs to be done now is the page creation and either launch this from rel-eng or in-product. Gavin and Nick can provide info on that. Bug 947435 has the copy for the page and request to actually make the page.

I don't understand what back-end work you're referring to. Publishing the page on mozilla.org shouldn't be blocked on anything else, as far as I know. I'm waiting for the page to be published and the final URL to be determined so that I can land the patch in bug 950405.

What URL should this page use?

Hi Steven-
This is the url Gavin proposed yesterday: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/29.0a1/whatsnew/
Does that still work for you, Gavin?
Thx,
Jen

Thanks to pmac's help, I've got this mostly setup. I can finish it up tomorrow morning, but in the mean time, here's general preview of how the page will look (attached).
Feedback/suggestions are welcome.

I have a quick question about #2 in the survey. It says "After having used this new Firefox interface for a while, how do you feel about it now?". What is the least amount of time a user seeing /whatsnew might have spent with the new interface?

The least amount of time would be for a user who just installed nightly a few days ago and got this upon update. Since Nightly doesn't see a lot of ADI growth (and those who downloaded nightly to try australis would have done so when it was merged to Nightly) we don't think that too many uses will be seeing this survey without a few weeks of Australis usage.

I don't have any strong opinions on what the URL is, whatever works for you :)

We've got a pull request ready for this page here: https://github.com/mozilla/bedrock/pull/1530
I see there is some discussion about the design/layout over on Bug 947435. The pull request is based on the design in the mockup I attached earlier. We can make style/design adjustments, but they'd require more time.

Steven - Let's move forward with what you've created for the pull request. Do you think we can get it out tomorrow? Thanks for your help!
