I am concerned about performance here. We previously had a transparent status bar, but removed it due to causing a launch-time regression. We need to take some timings with make test-perf here to ensure that we don't regress.

I'll have a look at this next week to see what the performance looks like and if there's anything we can do about it. :) (if we need to)

The specs linked @ https://mozilla.app.box.com/s/65hcq8nmnm3xpixpazxf/1/1793684441/16512159035/1, are entirely different from the specs @ https://mozilla.app.box.com/s/bb95jlbdk9l0robxluxc/1/1955331818/17066061062/1 I have implemented the latter, that was correct right? and if so its fairly confusing to have open seperate bugs that have conflicting specifications

Hi Dale, Please follow the 2nd spec that you referred to in Comment 4. That spec has updated visuals for the search app. Please ask Przemek Abratowski if you have any questions regarding that part. The way the search bar looks on the homescreen is identical in both specs. Basically, the history of it is that I posted the orginal specs (the 1st link in Comment 4), and then Przemek came in after and visually updated the search app internals.
