What problems would this solve? =============================== Volunteers in some locales have asked about getting "certificates" recognizing the work they have done on MDN. Digital Open Badges do not yet fill the same cultural niche as paper certificates for these volunteers (or for people who might evaluate their work, such as potential employers). Therefore, it would be helpful to them to have a paper manifestation of their badges. Who would use this? =================== Users who have earned badges and want a corresponding certificate. What would users see? ===================== Something like a "Print this badge" button on the detail page for a badge that the user has earned. (Users should not have access to print someone else's badge.) What would users do? What would happen as a result? =================================================== The user would click the button if they want a paper certificate for their badge. This would generate a PDF formatted for A4/Letter, showing something like this: [Badge image] [Badge name] has been awarded to [Badge earner's name] by [Issuer] in recognition of [Badge description] on [Issue date]. For more information, see [Badge URL] or scan [QR code for Badge URL] The user could then print this PDF. Is there anything else we should know? ====================================== Need to get feedback from users to ensure that this would satisfy their need for certificates. This may be a generally-useful module that should be contributed back to the Open Badges project.

This is definitely a plus, I'm sure we can get several Ugandan developers excited about this because it's been coming up for quite a while. The main questions now would be authenticity/verifying and who can issue them? Should they print every badge or only after they've raised a certain number of badges. Thanks.
https://badges.mozilla.org is shutting down, and we're not using badges to recognize work on MDN anymore. This may be a good feature request for https://openbadges.org, but not MDN.
