The first geolocation permission request is for Search Results, the second is for Smart Collections. Need info'ing Naoki to see if these two features are to share permission settings with the new rocketbar implementation or not.

The two do not share permissions; they are separate apps. If you go to Settings -> App permissions, you will see two separate apps Search Results and Smart Collections. I'm not sure what can be done with the situation to help with the UX. Pinging the UX team to take a quick look to see what they think.

Flagging Jacqueline, but I'd expect the expected here: The app permissions prompt should not be displayed.

(In reply to Stephany Wilkes from comment #4) > Flagging Jacqueline, but I'd expect the expected here: The app permissions > prompt should not be displayed. Actually it's the opposite here. Smart collections & search results are entirely different apps, so there would be a separate geolocation prompt for each respective apps. From what I can tell, this is expected behavior based on our security model. I'll let Kevin comment here to see if agrees. If he does, then this is invalid.

I do think this is pretty bad UX, I'm not sure what we can do about it in 2.0 besides dropping features =/ What happens is anytime we add something to the homescreen, Everything.me might want to add it to the pinned items in a collection. Because of this, Everything.me opens up, and requests the geolocation permission. For post 2.0, I do think it would be good to have a single unified permission for all certified apps in the future though. I guess UX should weigh in to as whether or not this is a blocker, and what we should do in the future.

Sorry for the delay on this one. Since this is more involved with search and permissions, NI to Francis to answer for UX.

This is really annoying - please, let's change this for 2.1. I agree with Kevin that we should try to have a unified prompt if possible. I doubt that the user will see the search results and smart collections as separate apps. Even if they did, how would they know what the boundaries of these apps are? Both these prompts appear to be generated as part of the system. I would suggest that both these permissions dialogs should be combined into a single prompt, coming from "Firefox OS".
