Thunderbird 31.0b3 and Thunderbird 24.6.0 on Windows 8.1 64 bit
With no main window open, clicking on a mail in a 'new mail' notification opens the main window twice.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Have Thunderbird open and an account periodically checked for mail.
2. Open address book.
3. Close main Thunderbird window.
4. Send mail to account from 1 from which Thunderbird periodically fetches mail.
5. Wait for 'new mail' notification.
6. Click on the new message in the pop-up.
Actual result:
Main window opens twice.
Expected result:
Main window opens once.

Patrick, can you reproduce?
I can't reprpoduce on Win7. In fact on win7 I get no notifications unless the main window is open. But don't take this as gospel - I don't use notifications on a regular basis.
Maybe this is a problem only on windows 8?

is it a regression in version 24.0 and working in 17.0.x?

(In reply to Wayne Mery (:wsmwk) from comment #7)
TCW does this reproduce for you?
No. Seems you can no longer keep the address book open whilst the main TB program is not running. I am not able to so WFM.
