Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:30.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/30.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20140605174243
Steps to reproduce:
Tools > Add-ons
Enter "chat" in search field
Actual results:
TB allegedly "Could not find any matching add-ons"
Expected results:
I expect to see the 6 add-ons listed under the "Chat and IM" category at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/extensions/ . In reality, the search should return 9 results--the same number of results returned when I search addons.mozilla.org.

Which version are you using, Patrick? User-agent provided was from your browser, not about Thunderbird :) Get it on Help/Troubleshooting Info... and copy it from User-agent.

I'll try this out when I'm using Thunderbird later today, but I'd expect something like the results of https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/search/?q=chat&appver=31.0&cat=1%2C0 to appear. (This assumed it was TB 31, by the way...) I think there are slightly different search results returned between what's viewable in the browser and what's viewable in the application. I think preliminary reviewed add-ons are only available view a browser. We should ask an add-on reviewer.

'Chat' doesn't find anything in the product but does on the website. By default, the search on the website returns both add-ons which passed full and preliminary review. The add-ons manager only seem to return add-ons which passed full review.
Be aware that other AMO bugs could interfere, like bug 809397.

Patrick O'Keeffe, do you still see this when using version 38?
I don't see a problem, but perhaps that's because I am running nightly version

Do you guys still see this issue?
(Let's get this out of Untriaged component. Bugs will tend to get lost there.)

Wayne,
I think this is working for me. I don't think AMO searches the *categories* for search terms, just the name and description. I think this is WORKSFORME.
