This issue does occur on 1.4 Flame.
Environmental Variables:
Device: Flame 1.4
Build ID: 20140801000200
Gaia: 3feb37ee2ed2319c9e556728723a5517dc1663ea
Gecko: 2b5defe2d811
Version: 30.0 (1.4)
Firmware Version: v122
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Mobile; rv:30.0) Gecko/30.0 Firefox/30.0
Note: The truncation in 1.4 doesn't have ellipses. Instead the text just fades out. The 2nd screenshot attachment shows the issue.
Both devices were using 319mb.

Please check 1.4 again on English. I believe the letters fading out is by design. Also, what text is truncated? Please specify this in your title.

When language is set to Basque in Flame 1.4 the text under the Browser icon is fading out, instead of being truncated by ellipses. This happens by design.

Minor regression from 1.4. Not nominating this to block since it is a locale specific issue.
