Looking at: https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/query/?product=Firefox&version=ALL%3AALL&range_value=2&range_unit=weeks&date=10%2F18%2F2014+05%3A00%3A00&query_search=signature&query_type=contains&query=libavcodec.so&reason=&release_channels=&build_id=&process_type=any&hang_type=any It seems like there is a low volume of crashes in (ubuntu's?) libavcodec which would be from libav (as opposed to ffmpeg), which is being loaded by gstreamer. We don't seem to have symbols for these in crash-stats -- if someone who can reproduce this can catch the crash in gdb with the appropriate libav/gstreamer *-dev packages installed and get a full backtrace that would be helpful. A workaround might be setting media.gstreamer.enabled to false in about:config, but you would lose h264 support
