Im not sure exactly what 4.xx uses as it's criteria for checking to see if a
site is updated when you use that feature of boomarks, but how about somehow
adding the ability to chnage what the criteria is. For example if a site chnages
just a small thing such as the colour of it's titles text then that counts as a
change. Most people will only want to go if something such as new content has
been added or old has been updated. So, how about the ability to tell it to only
say a site is truly updated if say pictures for example have changed or more
pictures have been added. Also being able to access this feature with the press
of a button would be usefull.
Also how about being able to download a site (you choose how may levels deep) if
it has changed in a way that meets your cirteria. You could set a task to check
once a week or and check a list of sites and too download them to a certain
level for each one that has been updated. (Like the IE feature which is very
usefull) of course this feature could go onlinef or you at like 3:00 am and
download it then go offline after it's done.
Summary: [req] boomark checking to see if updated - ability to define what updated means + ability to download updated sites automiaticly at time you choose → [RFE] boomark checking to see if updated - ability to define what updated means + ability to download updated sites automiaticly at time you choose

I have wanted a feature like this for a while...
For well-formed documents, it could be based on XPath. For example, if one is
only intersted in updates when the title of the document changes, a criterion
for update could be something like "Test if HTML/HEAD/TITLE has changed".
This would tend to capture changes in content, rather than style, but would
certainly catch some content changes too (moving tags around, e.g.). XSLT has
tests against XPath expressions already and might serve well as a back-end for
this, but I think full-blown XPath might be too much for the front-end.

Paul Chen is now taking Bookmarks bugs. For your convenience, you can filter
email notifications caused by this by searching for 'ilikegoats'.

Setting to all/all. I'm on a Mac, and this is certainly a feature I'd like to
see implemented at some point.

Second part not looks like valid rfe now, about first I'm not quite sure, but I don't see right way to implement it. Also, rss and subscribe for news already implemented, so I propose WONTFIX this

Can you point me where it's described, I made a quick search but don't find anything similar in "New features" for Safari 4
