about:plugins shows correctly the installed java-plugin (from blackdown.org, for ppc v1.3.0) When trying to load an applet, Mozilla crashes with the following errors: Create instance called in JavaPluginFactory5!!!!!!!! initilizing the java plugin instantance /usr/lib/mozilla/run-mozilla.sh: line 72: 2882 Speicherzugriffsfehler $prog ${1+"$@"} (Speicherzugriffsfehler = segmentation fault) Standalone java works fine, the appletviewer can load applets from webpages. I tried it with the distributions mandrake-ppc and linuxppc with serveral Mozilla builds (0.9.4, 0.9.5, nightlies, rebuilds from SRPMs, etc.). I tried libjavaplugin_oji.so and javaplugin.so as symbolic links in the plugin directory, both from the JRE and J2SDK.

I have mozilla 0.9.7 installed now, and there it happens as well...
This looks like my bug 113957
Blocks: 113957
I believe that this bug is fixed with newer versions of the java plugin. I used to have the same crash, but I managed to dig up somewhere (I no longer even remember where) a srpm called "jre-1.3.0-PL1a.src.rpm", whose title seems to imply that it is a later release of 1.3.0 than 1.3.0FCS was. However, this is now all moot, because blackdown.org has working builds of 1.3.1, at, for instance, <ftp://ftp.tux.org/pub/java/JDK-1.3.1/ppc/FCS-02a/>. These also work fine.
