This email is to encourage people to set up a Firefox Account prior to the switch over. It will contain information about how to set up a Firefox Accounts and what will happen to apps etc. At this some questions: * who will get the email just developers? * will the link the email go to a special location (eg migration flow) or just the create firefox account page? * what will the text say?
Priority: -- → P1
The proposed timeline is here: https://id.etherpad.mozilla.org/fxa-marketplace And we'll need multiple emails: * one to end users before the switch * one to developers before the switch * one to end users once the switch has occurred * one to developers once the switch has occurred * one to developers a few weeks after to anyone who hasn't switched The text really doesn't have to be that different, but we do need to get this localised, so the sooner the better.

In addition to text explaining the transition we will want: • A link to "Learn more" that will take the user to the SUMO page about the account migration. • Once the switch has occurred, a link to "transfer your account" should appear. This will take the user to the Marketplace (in the browser?). The screen to "Enter your Email to Sign into Marketplace" should be displayed so the user can start the migration process.

Copy doc for five emails.
Summary: [Marketing] Send email prior to Firefox Accounts switch → [Marketing] Send email(s) prior to Firefox Accounts switch
(In reply to sdevaney from comment #3) > Created attachment 8491882 [details] > FxAccounts_email_copy.rtf > > Copy doc for five emails. This look goods! My only suggestion is that in the 2nd email, that goes out once the switch has occurred, we add a line saying something to the effect of, "As you may recall, on (date) we sent you an email to let you know the Persona sign-in system is being transitioned to Firefox Accounts". (feel free to wordsmith) This way, in case the reader doesn't remember (or didn't read) the first email, they don't feel suddenly "forced" into the transition, and they can go back and re-read the first notice if needed.
Niran - When you get a sec, can you attach the final consumer-facing copy here? Mika - Looking for your review on these end of day today. ;-)

I'll respond tonight, I promise! Few quick questions - what is the email address from which the email will be sent? (i.e. what will users see in their inbox as the sender of the email) - do you have draft text for the footer of the email? It has to identify us and our address, w. link to PP. I can provide if you don't have it.

Mika - yes please provide the footer ;-) Andy - do we know what email address will be used to send this address? See comment 6

The footer of the email should say: "You are receiving this email because you created an account on Firefox Marketplace. Mozilla, 331 E. Evelyn Ave., Mountain View, CA 94041. / Terms of Use / Privacy Policy" The terms of use link goes to: link to: https://marketplace.firefox.com/terms-of-use The privacy policy link goes to: https://marketplace.firefox.com/privacy-policy Is the Firefox Account wiki page being used instead of a Sumo page or FAQ specific to marketplace? The following are questions that should be addressed somewhere: - What happens to my apps when I switch to Firefox Account? - What happens if I don't create a Firefox Account? - When will I no longer be able to use the Marketplace using my Persona account? Also, looking at this again, I suggest sending only one email to end users and developers (when the link is available for users to click) instead of two emails. Can you combine into one email and I'll review again. Thank you, Mika

Also, in addition to the notes I added in comment 8 above, the email to developers says they have to transition accounts "to ensure their apps remain listed". - how will you know who the developers are that did not switch? - why will not converting to FxA cause their apps to be delisted? - other then getting delisted (which I don't think we would do) what are the consequences of not converting to FxA? - similar to IARC ratings, for the folks who don't switch, will there be outreach to do this (especially to the developers of tier 1 apps?)
Mika - We should be using the SUMO page - I've added these questions to the bug for SUMO (Joni Savage) Is the Firefox Account wiki page being used instead of a Sumo page or FAQ specific to marketplace? The following are questions that should be addressed somewhere: - What happens to my apps when I switch to Firefox Account? - What happens if I don't create a Firefox Account? - When will I no longer be able to use the Marketplace using my Persona account?
Mika / Maureen (In reply to Mika from comment #8) > Also, looking at this again, I suggest sending only one email to end users > and developers (when the link is available for users to click) instead of > two emails. UX has strong recommendation to send multiple emails based on behaviors with other marketplaces and success data for this type of conversion effort. If we have a policy not to send multiple in this situation then of course we won't. Unless we hear from you, we'll assume we're moving forward with multiple.

(In reply to Sakina from comment #4) > (In reply to sdevaney from comment #3) > > Created attachment 8491882 [details] > > FxAccounts_email_copy.rtf > > There is a typo in the first two letters: In the near future, Firefox Marketplace will retire its current user sign-in system (Persona) in favor a far more robust user account system we’re calling Firefox Accounts. should say: ...in favor OF a far more robust user account system.... Note the addition of the world "of".

Uploaded new email with corrected typo. One question - what is the LINK in the activation email? Is it pre-filled with the email address as the mail implies that they will simply need to create a new password.
current: Firefox Accounts is coming vs. proposed: Firefox Accounts are coming (each individual (end user or developer) has only 1 account they need to change, right? So, perhaps the subject line should reflect the grammatical perception of the recipient not the product-centric focus of Mozilla, which sees this as a single product...

It will be a custom link per person containing the pre-verified link to Firefox Accounts for that email address.

So, perhaps the subject line should reflect the grammatical > perception of the recipient not the product-centric focus of Mozilla, which > sees this as a single product... I think this is a subjective style call. "Firefox Accounts" can be regarded as a singular overarching entity (thus "is" is fine). But if it bounces off the ear weird, go with what feels right. (When I was at iTunes we endlessly debated how to treat singular bands with plural sounding names; there is no right answer. Do you say "The Beatles are a great band," or "The Beatles is a great band"? But the band is a singular entity right? Madness.)

Added in Niran's copy Updated link to Sumo instead of Wiki FAQ Ensured Footer link in each email Removed separate email for Terms of Service update (on conversation with udevi - the link to TOS in the footer is enough)

Reviewed and it's good to ship. I made only one minor edit in tracked changes (simplified the verb tense in the final developer email). See attached.
