Currently when you delete a message, the old message stays in the message pane
and a new mesage isn't selected.
The desired behavior would be to select a new message if there is one and to
blank out the messgae pane if there isn't.
Is this similar to http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7778?

The part about the old message staying there is. The part about selecting a new
message, which was the main reason for this bug, isn't.

I haven't looked into this yet.
This needs to be fixed for PR1, so I added a note to the Status Whiteboard

At least some people don't want this behaviour, so a preference might be called

Using 19990922 builds on win98, mac and linux this is fixed. Verified.
