There's a new web font format, WOFF 2.0,¹ that compresses very well.²

> The new WOFF 2.0 Web Font compression format offers a 30% average gain over WOFF 1.0 (up to 50%+ in some cases).

It's already supported in Chrome 36+, Opera 23+, and Chrome for Android 27+.³

There's already a patch that's been actively worked on (bug 1064737), so expect it to land in Firefox very soon! :)

There's a gist with instructions on how to convert from TTF/WOFF to WOFF2.⁴
