The 3-4 default Smart Collection icons that appear on the homescreen look too busy when contrasted with the other app icons. Replace with new set of images from the Moz photo collection.
Smart Collections are a key element of the UX. With current background it is hard to understand what the are and how they differ from preloaded apps. Critical for first time experience Please fix

We will fix it for the next release or uplift if low risk but it's not a release stopper at this stage.

Do we have new visuals for 2.2?

Hi Gregor, Just finalizing the images - I'll have updates for 3 of the smart collections. Will post them within the next day or so.
Flags: needinfo?(pla)
Hi, Attached are the updated E.Me icons and backgrounds for the following Smart Collections: Social Games Music Please let me know if you need any assistance or run into any problems. Gregor/Patryk - As this is blocking UX Quality, is this something Pavel can fix or is it going to be someone on Gregor's team? Best, Peter.

Gregor, if someone on your team could do it (if they have time) that would be preferred, otherwise Pavel can fix it however just let him know who should peer approve his change.

Not blocking the release but we want to get it into 2.2.
Kevin, if we want to change these do we need to do it on the client side AND from the server?
Flags: needinfo?(kgrandon)
(In reply to Peter Dolanjski [:pdol] from comment #8) > Kevin, if we want to change these do we need to do it on the client side AND > from the server? Yes, I believe we need to update the images in both places. I think if we don't then the background image will change the first time it's opened.

Is this very low risk? Some concerns have been raised over the Social image, in particular, given certain market cultural sensitivities.

(In reply to Peter Dolanjski [:pdol] from comment #10) > Is this very low risk? Some concerns have been raised over the Social > image, in particular, given certain market cultural sensitivities. The client side changes are very low risk. I haven't looked at the server code in-depth to give an answer there though.
Flags: needinfo?(kgrandon)
Asking for blocking nom so that we can avoid issues as we launch into more culturally sensitive markets by replacing the Social collection image. Kevin, we'll look at changing the server image with the Marketplace/Content teams.

Peter, Ran - The timing of this is a bit odd. How do we handle this request with the snapshot server?

Kevin, this could go right into our hosted version which will hopefully go live before long which should be ready well before 2.2 devices hit the market.

Comment on attachment 8581016 [details] [gaia] KevinGrandon:bug_1080588_update_assets > mozilla-b2g:master I've filed bug 1145917 for the background images, but for now we can land the gaia update. This does mean that the homescreen icons can change until we update the snapshot server. R=me as I don't think we need to go through a review cycle here for this simple asset swap.

Since it is a 2.2 blocker, please uplift to 2.2. NI myself for following verification.
