This is especially bad with the browser chrome traveling a much longer distance to slide off screen.

Martyn, you did some work on this in London, right? Did that ever land? Is there still work to be done here, or perhaps this should be duped with bug 1087219?

Frame rate looks fine to me in Nightly on my Nexus 7 and 9. I think this was something we addressed in London as we were working on the new UI at the time.
Had a patch in progress in bug 1087219 but it was large and quite complex and we felt that it wasn't a big enough win on any front to justify landing.

antlam is happy with the current solution, so closing this.
