User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64; rv:36.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/36.0 Build ID: 20141030030218 Steps to reproduce: New Windows 8.1 Install New Firefox Profile Nightly Build Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64; rv:36.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/36.0 ID:20141030030218 CSet: 80e18ff7c7b2 e10s enabled Silverlight not installed Browsed to http://bubblemark.com/silverlight2.html Page displays Silverlight install button Actual results: Clicking it redirects me to http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/get-started/install/default.aspx?reason=64bit&v=4.0#sysreq, as if no 64 bit silverlight plugin was available. Expected results: Silverlight 64bit should install Workaround: Browse to http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx this will correctly prompt for the silverlight 64 bit download
Are you using a 64-bit Nightly build? Because with e10s enabled in the current Nightly (32 bit), I see the Silverlight install button and when I click on it, I get a dialog box asking me to open Silverlight.exe.

The site itself gives you the 32bit plugin and it's easy for the site to detect that you are using a 64bit Browser with the different User Agent string (Win64=64bit , wow64=32bit on 64bit system) What you are seeing is a bug in the webpage itself and nothing in Firefox.

Matthias, I agree, but since that is the official Silvelight install site from Microsoft we are talking about, this issue will make Firefox look bad. I think that Mozilla should officialy get in touch with Microsoft to get this fixed.

Mozilla doesn't offer windows 64bit builds at the moment except nightly test builds and that could be also the reason why Microsoft doesn't offer the 64bit plugin to Firefox users. That means that is no problems for a "normal" user at the moment. Microsoft itself announced the end of Silverlight and it's the question if the last remaining silverlight sites like Netflix are switching to html5 before Mozilla has an official windows 64bit build or if Mozilla is faster with the 64bit build. Please ask again if Mozilla announces official windows 64bit builds. Those builds have to go all the way through the Alpha -> Beta -> Release cycle and there is enought time to contact Microsoft in the meantime.

Matthias, thanks for the explanation. Perhaps there will be a 64bit release of Firefox before the official end of service for silverlight.... http://support2.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?LN=en-us&c2=12905 Anyway in the light of your explanation I agree that it is a fringe issue at best. Thanks again & best regards, Martin
