Richard: are you using the Tree Style Tabs or Vertical Tabs addon? Do these graphic artifacts go away if you refresh the tab?

I'm using Darrin's Vertical Tabs, yes. The page responds to mouse events (e.g., mouseover of a link) by redrawing regions. IIRC, it also redraws with refreshes and significant window events (switching tab?).

I sometimes see this, especially browsing the Facebook feed, in an e10s window. I thought bug 837489 was a dupe, and while the symptoms are similar, I think the causes are likely slightly different (since in this bug, the chrome isn't affected).

Couldn't get anything reliable - though I saw it periodically. Usually when the process was under heavy load (loading a large site), and scrolling an iframe or overflowed w scrollbar element.

I may have found a way of restoring some of the black box behaviour. I experience it when visiting this site: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/os/ And then scrolling down. This causes black-boxing, and then not long after, a crash.

The people in triage haven't seen this in months, so reopen if you still see it and give STR
