Build: 2001110908, Mac OS 9.1 To reproduce: 1. Start downloading a file. 2. Look at the button at the bottom right of the download progress window. What you see: * `Reveal Location' What you should see: * `Reveal in Finder'
That would be more consistent with other Mac OS apps, but I'm not sure I like making this a Mac-specific change. On Mac OS, it opens the folder in the Finder. On win32, it opens it in Explorer. On other platforms, presumably it opens in whatever the standard file browser happens to be. It seems odd that the button would mention the name of the file browser ("Finder") on Mac OS, but only say "Reveal Location" on other platforms. It occurs to me that Mac users are generally aware of the Finder being a specific application to a much greater extent than Windows users are aware of Explorer being an application, which is why "Reveal in Explorer" sounds really weird. I would expect *nix users to be similarly aware of whatever app they're using for a file browser (although maybe not; that probably depends largely on the particular desktop environment). I dunno, I'm tired, just figured I'd share my random thoughts. :-)
http://mozilla.org/xpapps/MachVPlan/RevealLocation.html incorporates changing the button text for all platforms. http://mozilla.org/xpapps/MachVPlan/MachV_NavPlan.html suggests 'Show File Location'.

So, is "Show File Location" generic enough, and acceptable on the Mac? I think so. This bug was never properly nominated/plussed, so I'm removing the nsbeta1+ keyword and closing as a dup of the "polish reveal location" bug (106082). *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 106082 ***
