Ubuntu 14.04 LTS / 'uname -a': Linux XXXXXXXX 3.13.0-39-generic #66-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 28 13:30:27 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux I configured my Ubuntu install to use Aurora instead of Firefox, as per these instructions: http://www.ubuntuupdates.org/ppa/firefox_aurora The morning of the Developer Edition's announcement, I unlocked my laptop and found a (**beautiful**, BTW) new DevEd browser window open on my desktop. My previous instance of Aurora was still running, so I closed DevEd, then closed Aurora, then clicked on the new DevEd icon, and selected my old Aurora profile. DevEd restored my session fine and everything is working properly. But I've noticed that when I middle-click on the DevEd icon in Ubuntu's taskbar, that the new browser window opens with the following URL: chrome://branding/locale/browserconfig.properties The content area shows: # This Source Code Form is subject to the terms of the Mozilla Public # License, v. 2.0. If a copy of the MPL was not distributed with this # file, You can obtain one at http://mozilla.org/MPL/2.0/. # Do NOT localize or otherwise change these values browser.startup.homepage=about:home

It works fine for me with a mozilla-provided binary, a custom .desktop file and simulating a middle-click with a touchpad. Could you post the contents of your .desktop file? Could you also try using the Mozilla-provided binary and see if it works for you? My guess is that this is a distro issue.

Hi, everybody. Mike Habicher, I had the same issue (because of this I found this post). I'm using XUbuntu 14.04 and installed Firefox DevEd. I'm using standard Fifrefox to non-work stuff and DevEd to work. Since a few days ago when I started a new Firefox window (CTRL+N, File->New Window or opening an URL from other app), I get something like you describe. Problem was that Firefox was not set as default and in the Start Page was set the address you said. I don't know how these settings were set in my FF, but there they were. Hope this solve your issue. Xubuntu Linux XXXXXXXX 3.13.0-40-generic #69-Ubuntu SMP Thu Nov 13 17:53:56 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Firefox 34.0 (canonical-1.0) Firefox DevEd 36.0a2 (2014-12-26)

Per comment 2, my Preferences > Home Page was also set to "chrome://branding/locale/browserconfig.properties", and I was still seeing this in Ubuntu's package of 38.0a2 (canonical-1.0). Per comment 1, I downloaded and tried Firefox 38.0b2 (from ftp.mozilla.org) and started it both with a new profile and with my current "default" one. Neither showed the page/text in comment 0. After switching *back* to 38.0a2, I don't see this page anymore either, and my Preferences > Home Page is now set to "about:startpage". Closing this as WFM.
