User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:36.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/36.0
Build ID: 20141114030206

Steps to reproduce:

1. Start Nightly in a new profile with no addons.
2. Install ghostery and close nightly.
3. Start nightly.
4. Load www.nytimes.com .
5. Click on Ghost icon and try to disable some of the trackers.

Actual results:

This bug is similar to bug 1066223. In addition to issues mentioned there, nightly stops responding when using Ghostery. I had to forcibly close nightly.

Moved to e10s, maybe e10s-addons in the future if it's an issue in Ghostery.

It's not unresponsive for me, just extremely slow. Seems to only occur in Nightly.

Seems I got a similar problem. I'm using Firefox nightly 51.0a1.20160804 from Arch Linux's unofficial repository, [1] which in turn uses Mozilla's tarball. [2] Sometimes (<10%) all tabs goes unresponsive. There's only a gray rolling gear in the center of a page. Some observations:

1. htop says both firefox and plugin-container processes have low CPU usages and in state S (sleep).
2. about:addons works fine. My newtab plugin, which overrides about:newtab via NewTabURL.jsm works fine as well. I guess it's because Chrome windows run in the main process?
3. Killing plugin-container triggers all tabs reloaded

I'd like to dive into this problem more. How can I determine why plugin-container is not responding? I know some basic gdb usages and have experiences in building mozilla-central from sources.

Hi shell, did you mean bug 1101189?
Ghostery is now a WebExtension and I don't think this bug is relevant anymore, please file a new bug if you are encountering bugs on a latest version.
