User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:36.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/36.0
Build ID: 20141117030201

Steps to reproduce:

0. Download Firefox Nightly: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/firefox-36.0a1.en-US.linux-i686.tar.bz2
1. Run `firefox -p`, create empty profile and start it. A window with two tabs opens.
2. Open new tab, copy any link to clipboard and then middleclick on the empty part of the page, for example above the search field.
3. Observe nothing happening.

Actual results:

Nothing.

Expected results:

The link from clipboard should get loaded.

Middle click still works sometimes. for example it works on about:blank and about:home. But not on about:newtab. It may be related to E10S. I could no longer reproduce the bug after disabling E10S in about:preferences.
Blocks: e10s
Confirmed the URL is not loaded while middle clicking in the empty areas on the about:newtab page.
36.0a1 (2014-11-17) Ubuntu 14.04 e10s ON.
Works fine with e10s OFF.

There're a few probably unrelated warnings when browser starts (e.g. "Services.HealthReport.HealthReporter	WARN	Saved state file does not exist" and "cdn.optimizely.com : server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555"), but no new messages appear in console when I open new tab and middleclick into empty areas.

Middleclicking into url input box or search input box on about:newtab works and pastes the url. Middle click on about:newtab tiles also work and open those in new tab. Middle click on empty parts should open the url. But it does nothing.
