This is unfortunate, and certainly something I would have fixed immediately if it had been reported before we released 34, but given that the new UI will be enabled by default for most locales in 35, is enabled by default for _all_ locales in 36 and the pref is expected to be completely removed in 37 or 38, I'm afraid there's not much value in fixing this now.
