Until bug 462618 is fixed, checkboxes in XUL trees have to use an image. The image currently in the tree (http://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/source/toolkit/themes/windows/global/checkbox/cbox-check.gif) looks old, and I think we could use a more modern icon there.
The main use case for this is currently the about:sessionrestore page, but bug 1106559 also adds checkboxes in XUL trees.

I don't see a good reason not to make the checkbox for XUL trees look more like a real checkbox.
It will look incongruous in either case. I would rather it look out of place and functional than merely out of place.
