Steps to Reproduce:
1. copy the code into a file
2. open with mozilla
3.

Actual Results:  I got newline between term and difinition. In other words <dl 
compact>
is working as <dl>

Expected Results:  term and definition in the same line

Duplicate of bug #2055 (although that's - somewhat harshly IMHO - a WONTFIX).
