news.mozilla.org has become a major pain to read with all the spam effectivaly covering all useful posts. In some groups there has been a ratio 3-1 spam - real posts. news.mozilla.org needs an anti-spam solution. I don't care if it is honey-pots, spam filters or cancel rights to more trusted mozilla contributors. It could even kill a useful post once in a while as far as I'm concerned. It would still be better than the current situation.
cancel rights really aren't a solution, since a large number of people (AFAICS) now read the lists exclusively through the mail interface. I'd vastly prefer just shutting off the nntp gateway completely, or at least making it read-only. FWIW, 95% of my spam (judging from a count after the thanskgiving weekend) comes from the webtools list. That's ridiculous.
Dupe of bug 63765. And yes, I agree that its getting really too much now. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 63765 ***
