From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows NT 4.0) BuildID: 2001112508 Go to the page - loading progress bar gets to about 80%, then the CPU spikes to 100% and Mozilla crashes (Dr Watson and Talkback). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to the page. Actual Results: Crash. Expected Results: No crash. I have a Talkback report here, but the Talkback server appears to be down at the moment (can't ping or traceroute it) - I'll attack the Talkback ID when the server accepts it :-) I'm about to post the below, attaching this bug number and asking those guys to add their Talkback IDs to it. The only other bug mentioning this URL is bug 88684. I've marked this 'OS: All' because it happens on Linux too (see below). This was from a newsgroup posting. Can't find the URL mentioned elsewhere in Bugzilla, so thought this might be worth posting. Here's the newsgroup post (my reply, anyway, which I'm about to post): Newsgroups: netscape.public.mozilla.browser Subject: Re: Mozilla crashes on loading this URL References: <3C03C2D7.2060103@nc.rr.com> <3C03E361.50100@domain.invalid> <3C03E5D8.70902@macbrideREMOVEdesign.com> <3C03EC58.9050104@domain.invalid> On Tue, 27 Nov 2001 14:41:12 -0500, Lucas MacBride <user@domain.invalid> wrote: :Lucas MacBride wrote: :> Lucas MacBride wrote: :>> Ron Thigpen wrote: :>>> Moz 0.9.6 (WinNT4sp6) reliably crashes on loading this URL: :>>> http://www.iht.com/frontpage.html :>>> The page load meter goes to about 80%, then CPU spikes and Moz :>>> crashes. Plus it links in seven :external JavaScript files which could be conflicting with each other as :well as with the multitude of internal script calls. (I'd think server :side includes would be a more efficient way to assemble their pages.) And bang goes 2001112508-trunk on NT4 as well! Exactly as per Ron's original post ... page load to 80%, then CPU spikes and Dr Watson and Talkback come up.
I tried saving the HTML of the page itself, to see if that made it crash - it doesn't. So it'll be something it's reading in (Javascript or CSS or something).
Got my Talkback ID - it's TB38591051Y. Just tried again - this time it loaded most of the page, THEN crashed. Talkback ID TB 38593848Q. Changed URL and summary - it's .com, not .org ...
Summary: http://www.iht.org/frontpage.html crashes Mozilla → http://www.iht.com/frontpage.html crashes Mozilla
Unfortunately, Mandrake Linux 8.1 seems to ship with a non-Talkback version of Moz 0.9.4, but I just went there in Win98 to crash again -- here's an ID from that: TB38595569Q

Okay, I downloaded 0.9.6 with talkback and crashed it under Linux, here's the ID: TB38597661Y I could take a look at the external scripts the page calls tomorrow if it would help.
