I just tried using the "mozHarness: --spsProfile" option on try to generate a profile while running a Talos suite.

https://treeherder.mozilla.org/#/jobs?repo=try&revision=43cba7973f13

I was after either a Windows 7 or Windows 8 run. The Windows 7 one came up purple, but the Windows 8 one did finish with an uploaded profile zip file. However, looking at the profile_tart.zip on the first trigger of that push:

http://mozilla-releng-blobs.s3.amazonaws.com/blobs/Try-Non-PGO/sha512/f0f97b4fd530fde5c07698bb0666f81be73c522c2498f58226fcb3aadc3f6aa7b08e000db1db9948715b93696b2e022818927b6a8df55b23bf53118469bf0e10

and unzipping it, the SPS JSON file is truncated.
This will be fixed by bug 1121571. I just edited https://wiki.mozilla.org/Buildbot/Talos/Profiling#On_TryServer to mention that it's a good idea to make talos.json point to http://hg.mozilla.org/users/mstange_themasta.com/talos-sps-profiling/rev/1a737105cc43 until those patches have landed. I should have done that sooner, sorry about that.
Depends on: 1121571
I think this was fixed temporarily by bug 1121571. Now with e10s that's a different story (bug 1329132).
