[Guessing at bugzilla component] I've been finding loading Amazon.com (from a .ca network location) remarkably slow in Nightly and DevTools, where I define slow as "feels like it takes forever to feel loaded and that I can interact with it". The number of async loads on that page is such that a precise definition is both hard and pointless, as it keeps refreshing resources, and the Network tab easily shows 45sec load times, but the page is usable before then. The page is usable sooner on Chrome than FF. I find that when loading amazon.com, in either Gecko build mentioned above, the favicon updates many many times, switching to a spinner many times. Furthermore, during the page load the page can be scrolled and updates quite quickly during the Chrome page load process, but is very, very janky in Gecko. I don't know how to get numbers, but have found that the scrolling jank and delays in general responsiveness is noticeable even on other amazon pages, compared to Blink. Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.10; rv:37.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/37.0 Adblock, 1Password, Firefox Dev Tools Adapter are my addons.

Amazon kills my Nightly as well. Full browser lockups for multiple tens of seconds and consequent pain. I’m using stock Nightly, e10s turned off, 1Password and ShareMeNot installed. If I find time I’ll try to bisect back to where it started getting bad, but I’m pretty sure it’s been like this for a couple of months already.
Amazon.com about kills my release version of Firefox and keep making network requests and grinding Firefox down to a halt. I have to close the tab to be able to use Firefox it is so bad.
I am going to generalize the summary as it is not just the homepage, but lots of other pages too. The entire website is almost unusable for me in Firefox 36.
Summary: Loading amazon.com home page is super janky compared to Chrome → Loading amazon.com is slow and hangs browser
(In reply to Patrick McManus [:mcmanus] from comment #4) > dup of https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1138449#c5 ? Well, it is only when I am on amazon.com. If amazon.com is open, Firefox is pretty unusable, if amazon.com is closed, Firefox is speedy. Let me enable/disable my add-ons to see if it is one of them.
I did a Firefox refresh (formerly reset) and it is has pretty much resolved the problem. I even re-installed all of the add-ons via the XPI from the "Old Firefox data" folder. David: is Amazon.com still slowing down your Firefox?

Seems better (favicon still goes crazy, but not the pathological jank seen before).

not the fundamental solution, but temporary one. https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/363n3w/amazon_slowdown/crangwo just block the images-amazon.com from sys host. it's would be temporary helped for others.
Probable root cause: bug 1172205
Depends on: 1172205
Windows 7 Pro SP1 Firefox v42 3.10 gigahertz Intel Core i7 950 6144 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory Internet connection Max speeds : 180Mb download / 12Mb upload 1st Dec 2015 and throughout the Black Friday period the I found the Amazon website load up to be dreadfully slow. IE and Chrome were fine. Whilst I don't know the technical reason for the issue a reset of Firefox did help. Prior to this I tried to block "images-amazon.com" via methods others have described but this procedure did not help me. Click: [3 dash lines] > ? > Restart with Addons disabled > Restart > Refresh Firefox I then readded previous extensions I had installed - Slingbox, WebSlingPlayer - Xmarks I left Skype Click to Call disabled. Whilst amazon.co.uk still doesn't load as quickly as I believe it should the above procedure has helped alleviate the issue considerably. I hope this helps others. Thanks, Oliver

I can’t replicate this any more for what it’s worth. It’s as fast as you’d expect any other site to be.

I still see this bug in firefox 65.0.1 . When loading an amazon product page, for example https://www.amazon.com/Cheerwing-X5SW-V3-Explorers2-Headless-Quadcopter/dp/B011JV9HA2/ref=sr_1_20?ie=UTF8&qid=1550675129&sr=8-20&keywords=quadcopter the browser hangs for about a second after the page loads.

However setting privacy.resistFingerprinting to true seems to solve this issue completely. Wanted to document this as it seems to help a lot.

Blocking the amazon domains with uBlock Origin did not resolve this for me.

I set the privacy.resistFingerprinting to true and it appears to have fix this. I can finally stop using chrome. :)

running 66.02 on archlinux.

Does this still reproduce for you?

I do not seem to be able to reproduce the bug anymore. Amazon.com product pages seem to be fast both with privacy.resistFingerprinting set to false and true too.
